I am delighted to welcome Jane Hughes to Mental Health Matters.  Jane will commence her position as Chief Executive Officer on Thursday 24th October 2019.  Jane has kindly provided a few words about her background and why she is excited to join us at MHM.

Jane began her career in the commercial sector in product and business development roles. Her passion for the voluntary sector was sparked through supporting local community groups, whilst a keen interest in health and social care led to her first role in the sector as a Service Manager for Brook. When the 17 independent Brook charities merged in 2011, Jane became a member of the Executive Team leading on the development of multi-site Operations and Business Development functions across the UK. Shortly after, she became Deputy Chief Executive with responsibility for Service Delivery.

Jane is a Chartered Manager and has held organisational lead roles for safeguarding and as Caldicott Guardian. Most recently she has been the Operations Director for Compass where she led a range of integrated health and wellbeing services for young people and adults, including substance misuse, sexual health and mental health.

"I found my niche in the voluntary sector working with like-minded people who are committed to the ethos and values of the organisation. My passion is understanding people's needs and challenges so that innovative integrated services can be developed with the flexibility to respond to those needs.

I am delighted to be joining MHM, a charity with a rich history of supporting people with their mental and physical health, enabling them to live the lives they choose. This is an exciting time with growing awareness of mental health and I am honoured to have the opportunity to work with and lead the wonderful teams at MHM, continuing to support more people to achieve fulfilled lives."

Outside of work, Jane has been a trustee of a local charity and enjoys travelling, walking and spending time with her family.

I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Jane to the organisation.

With Best Wishes,
Helen Mackay, CEO
