Latest Our news Mental Health Matters Staff Conference 2019 Mental Health Matters hosted their staff conference 2019 at Leeds Hilton on 22nd and 23rd May, where the theme was ‘The 5 Year Forward View - Transformation and Integration’. Our keynote speakers included:- Claire Murdoch - NHS England Mental Health Director David Powell - NHS Veterans' Mental Health Transition, Intervention and Liaison Service (TILS) Kevin Jarman – IAPT Operations, Delivery and Finance Lead, UK Department of Health All of whom brought information invaluable to MHM’s organisational development. We also had a range of workshops available throughout the day which all staff attended, including:- Transformation & Continuing Professional Development, focussing on getting ‘outside your comfort zone’; Developing MHM’s Crisis Support Model; A presentation from the Centre for Mental Health on ‘Parity of Esteem’ between physical and mental healthcare; MHM’s Integration of IAPT into Physical Health, and the future of IAPT and Physical Health Services. In addition we had an interactive ‘market place’ which enabled MHM’s services to mingle with each other, find out about the different services they deliver, and share successes across the organisation. The event was an acknowledgement and celebration of MHM’s fantastic teams working across the country to help people achieve good physical and mental wellbeing and live life to the full. We are pleased to report it was a huge success, with over 250 MHM staff attending the two day event, and would like to say thank you to all staff who made the effort to travel to Leeds and get involved, particularly those who helped facilitate the event. It’s this commitment of MHM’s staff that made the staff conference such a great success and which supports the ongoing growth of the organisation. Initial feedback from staff shows that the event has had a hugely positive impact on many of them, and given more focus to our ongoing commitment to provide personalised support, so that anyone with a mental health need can live the life they want to live. Comments included:- ‘I feel more connected to MHM and that we are doing a good job’, ‘Really loved the keynote about veterans!’, ‘Was a very good day - nice for all services and teams to come together’, ‘Appreciated the effort MHM had gone to and felt very looked after.’ Once again, a huge thank you to all the staff and external speakers who supported and attended our 2019 staff conference – we couldn’t have done it without you!
