Today marks the start of World Autism Acceptance Week (March 28 – April 3)

The week aims to raise awareness of autism and how we can all help to create an inclusive society that makes the world friendlier to those who are affected by it.

Our Mental Health & Autism Peer Support (MAPS) service in South Staffordshire is staffed by a team of Peer Support Workers who have lived experience with autism and/or caring for someone with autism.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the awareness week and in recognition of that, the team are participating in the ‘Super 60’ challenge. The local MAPS team have compiled a list of 60 ‘self-care and kindness’ challenges to complete throughout the week.

These challenges include learning new skills, helping the local community, and acts that prioritise self-care and wellbeing.

The team has already kick-started their effort and we look forward to seeing how many they complete this week!
