What we do:

We provide support for people with mental health needs in South Tyneside to help them be able to gain and maintain their own homes. This support, provided in self-contained and fully furnished flats in the Chichester area of South Tyneside, equips the people we support to gain all the necessary skills, understanding and community links to be able to live confidently and securely in their own homes and be a valued part of their neighbourhood.

Our Recovery Coaching Team will help with skills such as:

  • Maintaining a tenancy
  • Staying safe at home
  • Budgeting money and paying bills
  • Applying for appropriate welfare benefits
  • Developing life skills to live independently
  • Maintaining physical and mental wellbeing
  • Accessing the local community
  • Shopping and cooking healthy meals
  • Developing a peer support network
  • Moving on to independent living
  • We also offer Floating Support for people who already have a home of their own.

Everyone who we support through this service is linked with a key-worker who will spend time with the person receiving support, coaching them and developing a personalised support plan. This plan will identify key areas of need raised by the person receiving support and other agencies who work with them. This will be used to identify opportunities for the person to develop all that they need to live successfully in their own home, and is an ideal way to start the journey to recovery and independence.

This support can be provided for up to two years depending on the needs of the individual concerned. At the end of the support, each person will be able to say that they can make it on their own and go forward to a positive future.

Who is the service for?

We work with people aged 18 and over who either live within, or are registered with a GP within, the borough of South Tyneside.
