Mental Health Disorders

A mental health disorder is a condition that affects a person’s thoughts, emotions, behaviours, or overall wellbeing.

The impact of a mental health disorder varies widely. For some, the effects may be occasional or manageable; for others, they can significantly influence daily life, relationships, work, and overall health. Mental health disorders encompass a broad range of conditions, which may include anxiety disorders, depression, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), personality disorders, and other mental health conditions.

Because mental health disorders affect people in different ways, the type of support someone needs can vary greatly.
