Suicide Awareness (half-day)

Expand

Suicide is not inevitable, it is preventable.

All too often suicide and the warning signs of suicide are not topics that are discussed or even considered. We know that most people who complete suicide have had contact with a health professional in the months leading up to their death. The opportunity to intervene went unnoticed or the intervention was insufficient.

Participants in this course will:

  • Appreciate the role attitudes have in understanding suicide and interventions.
  • Be confident identifying those at risk of suicide.
  • Understand the cognitive, situational and environmental influences on suicidal behaviour.
  • Develop confidence and structure in conversations about suicide.
